Abstract

Toxic effects of heavy metals are well known, therefore, it is important to have information regarding their distribution and concentrations in the environment. Further, the contamination and accumulation of heavy metals in plants and vegetables pose a serious threat to humans, plants and animals as these metals are non-biodegradable and therefore, their small contamination can affect for long time. Therefore, the study of contamination of heavy metals in plant parts such as seed and seed oil is important. In this study, physico-chemical properties, fatty acid composition and heavy metal content in seed oil of Salvadora oleoides have been determined.
