Abstract

The United Nations from the very day of its inception from 1945 till date worked to secure women’s legal equality.


            The United Nations is committed to the principles of equality of men and women, meaning equality in their dignity and worth as human beings as well as equality in their rights and opportunities and responsibilities[1].social status of women throughout the world is day by day increase offences against women are on rise, even in developed countries social scenario is not changing rapidly in favors of women. The international scenario reveals that numerous international instruments have come into effect to curb social evils and to ensure elimination of discriminatory treatment prevalent throughout the world. The world is dominated by male community, whereas women occupy half of the population of the world and works two third of the total work of the world, more hygiene condition than the men. Under this chapter we discuss the empowerment of women by international law.
