Abstract

          A Constitution is the basic document of a country, having a special legal sanctity which sets the framework and principal functions of the organs of the government of a state and declares the principles governing the operation of these organs. The Constitution aims at creating legal norms, social philosophy and economic values[1]. This Article deals with the Legal framework in Indian Constitution with regard to gender justice. The Preamble of the Constitution is based on Social, Economic and Political justice. Such justice should be equal to all. The Preamble contains the goal of equality of status and opportunity to all citizens. This particular goal has been incorporated to give equal rights to women and men in terms of status as well as opportunity. The aspect of gender justice is further emphasized and dealt with in the directive principles of state policy[2].
