Abstract
Citizens in a democracy should have sufficient understanding of the political system in which they express preferences and elect representatives. This is because knowledge is a prerequisite to successful political engagement. If citizens are not observant of what happens around them, it invariably leads to a non-participatory citizenry. Political Orientation plays a vital role in the development of a democracy. The Cognitive orientation of youth as a demographic category due to its sheer size in the subcontinent of India is undeniable. While India’s median age is 25 years, which is expected to increase gradually in coming decades.
