Abstract

The popularity of Koha Open Source library management has accelerated library automation activities in developing countries. Libraries are willing to free from proprietary library automation software and move to Koha. Data migration from legacy software to Koha is a complicated task due to vendor lock-in and data in a non-standard format. Data migration is the only difficult task for libraries in the adoption of the Koha Open Source library management system. The article gives an overview of various processes in data migration from proprietary library automation software to Koha in the Indian context. It also discusses the tactics to follow while upgrading from an old version of Koha to the latest one.
