Abstract

This paper analyses the indoor mite fauna of Punjab. A total 663 dust samples were collected from the homes of different locations. From these, 397 dust samples i.e. 59.88% were found to be positive for mites and 266 dust samples i.e. 40.12 were negative for mites. Dominant mite were Blomiatropicalis and Tarsonemusgranarius were in least number. A total 24 species belonging to 14 genera, 08 families and 03 orders have been identified. The collected mites belonged to order Sarcoptiformes (astigmata), Trombidiformes(prostigmata)and Mesostigmata.
