Abstract

Like other sports snow skiing also involves several bodily movements. In order to perform these movements properly various physical fitness variables are responsible. Our study focuses on those physical fitness variables which may be helpful in identifying talent in alpine skiing. Six week Alpine Skiing Workout was given to the subjects. The subjects were tested before and after the training with different testing procedures. Independent t-test was used to analyze the data. The results of the study show that there has been a significant relation between strength, balance, agility, flexibility and alpine skiing performance. However, there is no significant relationship between endurance and alpine skiing performance. Thus we conclude that strength, balance, agility and flexibility are better determinants of talent identification in alpine skiing.
