Abstract

This paper focuses on Indian family issues and the difficulties of husband and wife relationships and disputes in the join family.  The study explores The picturesque of Indian Family Life in Ruth Prawer Jhabvala’s The Householder. The burning problems in modern India are the problems of marriage without love and love without marriage. Jhabvala wonders the marital issue in Indian soil though the hero and the heroine are from the same culture, same religion, and same social and educational background but they have marital dissension. Indian family system fundamentally a patriarchal system, this still continuing in families because it satisfying two very important needs of its male associate, and their love of power and young male’s need for financial fulfillment.
