Abstract

One of the main significant reasons behind the expansion and development of Indian writing in English was the British rule that saw India being acquired with Western / British education in India. And then Indian Writing in English has motivated and inspired to many a stalwarts like R.K. Narayan, Raja Rao, Khushwant Sing, Girish Karnad, Vikram Sethu, Rabindranath Tagore, Vijay Tendulkar, Mulk Raj Anand, Salman Rushdie, Amitav Ghosh as well as Anita Desai, Neelam, Sujatha Bhatt, Temsula, and Sarojini Naidu. Many papers and books have been written on the same but what about another upcoming genre / area of literature that has really helped Indian Writing in English to grow and that is Science Fiction (SF) writing in Indian English Literature. Science Fiction in Indian English Literature has faced a very big opposition from regional Science Fiction as it was more popular and was more capable to draw its readers. Some of the Science Fiction writers who wrote in their regional native languages and have commanded the very large fan base for their works. As we know, it is only recent that Indian Science Fiction which is written in English has become more popular and original fiction instead of the regular translated works.
