Abstract

In developing countries of the world socio-economically weaker section of population are concentrated at edge or unhealthy part of the city and form slum or squatter settlement, whose are coming from the counter part for searching better job. Thus Slum is a spatial unit in urban place, where dwellers are facing various problems like overcrowding, unfit housing condition, inadequate water supply, lack of sanitation facility, unemployment, health care facility, drainage and poor waste management etc.The present study focuses on some problems of slum households in Balurghat Municipality such as water supply and sanitation facility. The study found out that maximum households of ward no 22 dominantly rely on community based sanitation system and suffer from inadequate safe drinking water, waste disposal facility and improper drainage system etc.
