Abstract
BadalSircar’s ‘Third Theatre’ is experimental and innovative in sense of techniques and through ‘Third theatre’ plays.He makes an attempt to use it as a potent medium for convening his philosophy. The techniques and forms used in the plays effortlessly transmit the social ideas of Sircar. He looks beyond the progress that creates the false consciousness among the population and takes to generate the consciousness. The present paper will make an attempt to study Sircar’s play Stale Newsand juxtaposes the harsh exploitation and oppression in India during pre and post-independence periods. Every aspect of hierarchized exploitation and oppression has been imparted through the techniques of third theatre. He also shows how an alienated person in the society is reduced to the level of irresponsibility because of the process of domination.
