Abstract

In India,textile industry is the second largest sector, which generates employment opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled people. In manufacturing fiber,India is the second largest country all over the world.India is also known for the production of cotton, silk, Jute, etc.  Indian textile industry is having 100% contribution from FDI. Government of India invested large amount in textile sector. Indian Government introduced many export promotion policies for the purpose of supporting and developing this sector. Textile industry of India is offering variety of products like silk, cotton, wool, handloom, etc. Indian textile industry is targeting different market segments. Places like Maharashtra, West Bengal Uttar Pradesh,etc. are known for textile products. India is also exporting textile products to different parts of the world and India is the second largest exporter of cotton.
