Abstract

Jagjivan Ram was considered to be one of the tallest and renowneddepressed classes/dalitleaders of Bihar. From the beginning, he was very much influenced by the social fabrics of Indian society. It was very much reflected in his younger and older age on all accounts. He was a great orator and was clear in his thought as far as sufferings of depressed classes/Dalits were concerned. Since his childhood, he sufferedon the basis of caste which made him strong in the coming years. He did not hesitate to object on the wrong doings prevalent in the society at that time and always raised his voice and acted consciously as a tool of change. During the freedom movement, he not only participated in it but also lead it from the front. It was this acumen of him which gave him a chance to be part of government from 1946 onwards and became the holder of important portfolios of different ministries. He was an organizer and a great motivator for depressed classes from the student days. It was at an early age as a student, he started involving in organizing the students from lower castes and wanted to bring perceptional change in the minds of youths and to motivate them to open up and raise their voice for goodness of self and others which could be brought into the notice of leaders propagating similar ideas.
