ABSTRACT
While translating into English, translators from every Indian language stumbled and sweated over some of the phrases and cultures that may be very easy to understand in the original text but it may not be like that when translated into other languages. Culture is expressed through images in translated text, so that here pictures can be a good way of understanding. It can be best understood in the light of interaction between words and pictures. Here the paper tries to prove that translated content can be more interesting if images are used. It highlights the connection between the images and words in Narayan’s Kocharethi: The Araya Woman translated by Catharine Thankamma.
