Abstract
The paper tries to explain that the Indian audience has lately been showing interest in regional cinema with regional films doing well both domestically and internationally. This trend can be noticed by looking at the rising share of regional films in the box office collections. Having recognized the cultural and economic potential of the regional film industries, the state government is also taking initiatives to help in the growth of their native film sector.
