Abstract

Our country has attained a rapid growth in the health care sector. But nevertheless, a significant portion of the rural India is still far behind and unware about the present health care situation. One main reason which is keeping them away from quality health care facilities is their low income level. Also the only means through which the rural population utilizes health care benefits is from the public health care providers. As public health care facilities are more known for poor management and providing low quality services, the rural population end up seeing health care sector as something which is unapproachable for them. And certainly, the private sector healthcare is not so affordable to them which again make accessing medical treatments a herculean task for the rural population. Adding to it, the insurance companies are also least interested to fund the rural households as they understand their income level does not favour them to take insurance in healthcare sector.
