Abstract
This paper focuses on capitalism’s ecological imperialism and environmental degradation especially species’ life and natural resources in Ship Breaker written by Paolo Bacigalupi from the perspective of metabolic rift. This paper also discussed the fossil fuel dependence and interrogates on resource limits. Paolo Bacigalupi has contributed to the discussion concerning the metabolic relationship with nature. This novel Ship Breaker is a post-apocalyptic setting where the society has stricken the environmental catastrophe by a fossil-driven capitalism.
