Abstract

The word ‘Skepticism’ has been derived from the Greek word ‘Skepsis’ which means inquiry or doubt. Doubt is better than over-confidence because it leads to inquiry and inquiry leads to invention. This is the root of all progress under the sun. Human beings, from the very beginning, have been suppressed and oppressed which caused numerous questions arising against it in the minds of the oppressed and they became skeptical and revolutionary. This paper attempts at analyzing how Graham Greene’s novel The Power and the Glory throws light on the philosophy of moral skepticism of Immanuel Kant, Rene Descartes, David Hume and others.
