Abstract

This study examined the competency level of banking professionals in India. It analysed the effect of employee competency on job performance among managers of banking sector. An integrated model was developed highlighting the relationship between these variables mediated through organizational citizenship behaviour. Using a sample of 408 employees, Baron and Kenny’s approach was used to establish the mediation effect on the variables by analysing the response of bank managers select commercial banks in Kerala, India. The findings of the study revealed the revel a strong relationship between employee competency and job performance among the banking professionals. It also established the partially mediated effect of citizenship behaviour in establishing the relationship.
