Abstract

Women’s political participation has become key issue in the discourse on human rights and equitable, sustainable development all around the world. However, women remain seriously under repressed in decision-making positions. Many steps have been taken at International and National level to ensure equal participation of women in decision-making process. Indian government also creates many opportunities at different level of governance for increasing women participation in politics. In Indian constitution provision of Fundamental rights, one-third seats are reserve for women in local bodies etc. But their participation has not still significant. Because they are facing many problems like: Lack of Leadership qualities, Male Dominance, Economic Dependency upon male members of the family, Traditional culture.
