Abstract

This research is all about testing and assessing the effect of the chosen 4 tasks related to spoken English.  The testing comes under the model popularly referred to as "Task-Based Learning" (TBL). The research discusses matters under the following four chapters: 1. Literature review covers Definition of task based Learning, Underpinnings of TBL research and practice, the role of student characteristics in TBL the challenges associated with enacting TBL 2. Assessing the effectiveness of 4 selected tasks under TBL at three remote schools located in Nanattan from Mannar District, Srilanka. 3. Assessing the improvements in all four tasks among each individual.  4. Conclusion and the Future directions for TBL research to be carried at remote schools
