Abstract

Language is a powerful tool. Whether you communicate verbally, or in written form, the language you use affects how the message is perceived. Using positive language can help to reduce conflict, improve communication, increase optimism in others and can portray the speaker/writer as credible and respectable. Literature abounds in positivity which transmits and disseminates to the patrons for productivity. One such writer is Paulo Coelho ,a Brazilian author who entangles the reading community with his words of positivity.  His Alchemist chisels many dilapidated minds and replenishes them with words of stimulation. Another philosophical production of Paulo Coelho is  The Zahir. The word "zahir" literally means "obvious." In this context, it’s the obsession the narrator develops with his missing wife that is what becomes obvious in his life. Emotive language is the mode of transmission of positivity.
