Abstract

A series of novel bissubstituted derivatives of selected N–, O– and C–nucleophiles such as aryl and heteryl amines, substituted phenols and compounds with an active methylene group from 3,6-dicyano-1,7-dihydro-2,5-bis(methylthio)- 7-oxo-1-(2’,4’-dinitrophenyl)pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (5) were synthesised using 3-amino-4-cyano-5-(methylthio)-1-(2’,4’-dinitrophenyl)-1H- pyrazole (3) and ethyl-2-cyano-3,3-bis(methylthio)acrylate (4) as a starting material in N, N-dimethyl formamide (DMF) and anhydrous caesium carbonate. 3-Amino-4-cyano-5-(methylthio)-1-(2’,4’-dinitrophenyl)-1H-pyrazole (3) were prepared by reaction of 2,4-dinitro phenyl hydrazine (1) with bis (methylthio) methylene malononitrile (2). The structure of newly synthesized compound revealed by chemical and spectroscopic data. Most of the compound exhibited moderate to good inhibitory activity against M. smegmatisand S. typhiwith potent anti-oxidant characteristics and negligible cytotoxicity.
