Abstract
The West Bengal Government has announced about the establishment of a hill university in Darjeeling. It was initially named as Greenfield University and later on renamed as Darjeeling Hill University. The cultural heritage of the Gorkha people of Darjeeling hills has received hardly any critical attention due to the lack of an institute where people might get a scope to get involved with the teaching and learning of the various forms of Gorkha art. The Upcoming university, therefore, need to have a department of Art so that the rich heritage of Gorkha art gets its due attention and recognition. This paper is an endeavour to explain why and how various courses of teaching-learning and research on various forms of Gorkha art can be introduced in order to address the issues related to Gorkha cultural heritage.
