Abstract
This article deals with bringing an anthropological study of female convicts in 08 Central Prisons in Karnataka state. The paper brings to light female criminality. The paper is based on qualitative data obtained through the technique of in-depth interviews and observation. Findings highlight the exigent need on part of the government to expedite the recommendations made by various committees and the prisons manual to improve bring in the policies for women empowerment and reduce the criminality up to a certain extent.
