Abstract

Amitav Ghosh is a globally acclaimed prominent postcolonial diasporic writer. His literary corpus contains nine novels, some non fictions and several essays on varied topics. He has infatuated the readers across the globe by his outstanding skill of presenting a collage of facts and fiction. In his works, he provides central place to the common individuals who are left unnoticed in the annals of history. Though variety of themes finds expression in his works, the lives of diaspora occupy the core of most of his works. His topnotch Sahitya Academy award procuring novel The Shadow Lines depicts the plight of the displaced. In the novel the displacement takes place in different socio-political circumstances. Whatever may be the reason behind the displacement, the displaced, in one or the other way, encounter detrimental situations.The present paper strives to bring to the fore the voice of diaspora, their lives full of ravages and repercussions.
