Abstract
India has always been a home of spirituality . east to west or north to south each region of India carry its long history of spirituality with its roots connected to local culture and tradition . Uttarakhand is state from northern Himalayan region known for its landscapes ,biodiversity and its strong connection with spirituality .with this strong connection it is also called ‘Devbhoomi Uttarakhand’ . there could be many reason to travel for a tourist to visit Uttarakhand but spiritual tourism is providing a strong boost to the tourism industry . concept of spiritual is not new but One can experience the process of refining their nature by staying in the Shatikunj Ashram in the Saptarshi area of Haridwar.
Spiritual tourism is a not completely similar to religious tourism .it mostly emphasise on spirituality rather than religious practices. This research paper would present how spiritual tourism in Uttarakhand has created opportunities in tourism industry, generate income, ease poverty, reduce rural migration, nurture a sense of pride among societies and also promote Uttarakhand’s image as international destination for spiritual seekers.
