Abstract

E-sevai centre in Tamil Nadu play a significant role in providing e-governance services to the people. In India, e-governance process has been taken long back but effective implementation was made only after the digital India programme with nine pillars such as Broadband Highways, Universal access to phones, Public internet access programme, e-governance, e-kranti electronic delivery of services, Information for all, Electronic manufacturing target net-zero import, IT for jobs and Early harvest programme. E-Governance is one of the major pillars of the digital India programme which provides a mechanism of direct delivery of public services to the marginal segments of the society in the remotest corners, without having to deal with intermediaries. This paper made an attempt to discuss socio-economic impact of e-sevai centre in Tiruchirappalli District.
