Abstract

Cultural diversity of India is considered very rich in all over the world where many tribes and communities are famous for their unique and amazing cultural characteristics. By culture, we mean the adoption of habits, behaviours, and customs through socialization process. In tribal world, Traditional Political System, Specific Language, Naturalistic Worship, Totemic clan division etc. are many specific characteristics where youth dormitory is one of the major characters.  This is the central attraction for cultural learning among tribal community that is generally classified in two types in which some are managed as place for living of person of both sexes and some are managed as place for living of person of same sexes.  Similarly, Dhumkuria is also a major cultural characteristic among Oraon.  In this research paper, an attempt will be made to understand about this cultural heritage and also to know its importance and current status in Oraon society. This research paper is based on the case study of Oraon tribe of Chhotanagpur and Dooars region which is completely a qualitative paper. Both primary and secondary data is included for this research.
