A high prevalence of stress among all generation of people is a cause of concern as it may impair behavior of people, diminish learning and ultimately affect patient care process after their graduation. Numerous studies have shown that peoples of fields are susceptible to high rates of morbidity during their entire life. In fact, all professions are perceived as being stressful, and a high level of stress may have a negative effect on cognitive function and learning. Though a peoples under optimal stress does bring out his or her best but extreme of stress can result in stress induced disorders and deteriorating performance. Further, stress among these peoples may affect physical fitness and motor performance. Yoga’s added benefit is that it improves physical fitness and encourages self-reliance. In this brief article we discuss the evidence for yoga as a form of mental health promotion, illness prevention and treatment for depression.
