Abstract

Youth civic engagement is vital for young people entirety empowerment, and continuing rural development. Some theories have been placed correlation by youth civic engagement and rural development. The theories pointed out connections between youth’s extent of civic engagement & their socio-economic status and political participation to rural development. Gender equality and meaningful participation of young men & women will be promoted young people with skills that will improve their income and economic resilience, increase their knowledge and awareness and create opportunities and platforms for them to actively participate on issues that affect them and also affects on rural development process. Therefore, youth’s civic engagement plays a very vital role in course of poverty reduction in rural area. Literature which is available so far highlights the various dimensions of civic engagement of youth and theoretically establishes its relationship with poverty reduction, though empirical research on stated relationship is scanty. Link between poverty reduction & civic engagement has not been addressed anywhere in the literature. So, need arises to empirically test the relation between youth civic engagement and poverty reduction. This study may assist the policy creator to contribute considerably towards rural development .
