Abstract

The study evaluated of features of web searching though search engines and search skills of students in three selected Engineering colleges in Karur district, Tamilnadu, India. It also examined students’ ability to distinguish diverse web searching as well as assess the effectiveness of search engines. The sample consists of 146 respondents drawn proportionately from a population from the selected colleges. The questionnaire was based on different variables, which were considered to be significant for search engine and interest to searching the web. Some analytical techniques like tables, percentage and co-efficient of correlation were used to analyze the collected data. The study concluded that it is inferred that more male respondents are using the searching engines.  The majority of the respondents uses search engine 1-2 years. The majority of the respondents are searching Image, videos and songs on the web.  Searching web shapes good personality, ideas, right thinking and attitude change.
