Abstract
The world needs more of stories. Stories of truth, justice, reconciliation and peace. The truth is often distorted with every retelling of a story, and is manipulated according to the personal and political aspirations of the people, especially the winners. The paper signifies the role of historical truth to bring about peace in the future. It is pointed that oftentimes the leading cause of a war or dispute is divergent history spread among the masses – there is a history of truth and there is also a personal account of history for each individual. This leads to a greater dilemma and a divided society that has multiple accounts of a single truth.
