Abstract

This paper describes an attempt to construct a scale to measure the Academic Barriers of Dyslexic students as Perceived by Special Education Teachers’. Likerts method (Five points) of scaling was adopted. The researcher constructs the statements; acceptance or rejection of each one would imply a different degree of favorable or unfavorable Academic Barriers of Dyslexic students. The statements were then screened and edited in accordance with guidelines suggested by Likerts and others. 51 statements were retained under five dimensions such as Social Barriers, Academic Pressure, Infrastructure, Emotional Barriers and Confusion both positive and negative statements. Eventually, pilot study was conducted on a 75 Special Education Teachers in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thirivallur districts.
