Abstract

The stages of landscape brought by Wainganga river cycle of erosion stages of Young, mature and old are precisely characterized and determined by progressive returns of maximum relief ratio (above 70%), maximum amount of slope (40–100%), high dissection index (above 30%) high hypsometric integral (above 60%), high percentage of unconsumed upland (above 30%), and low circularity index. The study area is situated on Seoni District of Madhya Pradesh from the Western slopes of Maikal Ranges which is continuation of the Satpura Ranges in Central India. The river in its initial reaches flow westwards and thereafter southwards in M.P. State and continues to flow Southwards in Maharashtra State. Several studies related to different aspects of channel cross section and longitudinal profile river have been carried out from different parts of the country and abroad.
