Abstract

Commercial banks are the backbone of business and they play a major role in the economic development of a country. The major functions of any commercial bank is accepting deposits from the public and lending loans to the public. Commercial banks consist of three categories: Public sector banks, private sector banks and the foreign banks. At present there are 18 public sector commercial banks, 22 private sector commercial banks and 45 foreign commercial banks in India. The present research is aimed at comparing the performance of public sector, private sector and foreign commercial banks in India.
