Abstract

Gender equality is a constituent of development as well as an instrument of development. No country can develop if half of its population is severely disadvantaged in terms of basic needs, livelihood options, access to knowledge and political voice. According to India’s constituent, women are legal citizen of the country and have equal rights with men. But, because of male dominant society, women of India suffer immensely. Women are responsible for taking care of their children, yet they are malnutrition and in poor health. Women are powerless are mistreated inside and outside the home. In this paper, I am discussing the status of women in India.
