Abstract

Entrepreneurship is very important for economic development of a nation. In a developing nation where employment is a major problem, entrepreneurship can create jobs and break the cycle of unemployment. The government realising the importance of entrepreneurship for is keen on building an ecosystem that will nurture and develop entrepreneurs. Though currently country can see some great innovative ideas and creative solutions to a number of problems, but the participation of women in entrepreneurship is negligible. Government has noticed this and has come up with many schemes to empower women and motivate them to take up entrepreneurship. The study attempts to find out initiatives taken by government and financial institutions to encourage women entrepreneurship. It further explores how much of these initiatives are used by women entrepreneur and the awareness level of women entrepreneur for the same. The research is done with the help of secondary data collected from RBI report and other reports generated by MSME.
