Abstract

A quasi experimental study to assess the Effectiveness of Video Assisted Teaching Programme regarding Lifestyle Modification of Elderly on Knowledge and Health Status of Older Adults in the Rural Salem, Tamil Nadu was undertaken by Mrs. S. Malathi, in partial fulfillment for the award of Degree of Doctor of philosophy in Nursing at Vinayaka Missions University, Salem. The overall pre test mean knowledge score was 10.173.17, which was 25.42% of total score revealing that older adults had poor knowledge regarding the life style modifications. The overall pre test mean health status score was 16.00 5.61, which was 26.67% of total score revealing that older adults had poor health. The overall post-test I mean knowledge score was 18.32 ± 4.14 which was 45.80% (Average) of the total mean score. The overall post-test II mean knowledge score was 28.16 ± 4.47 which was 70.41% (Good) of the total mean score. The overall post test III mean knowledge score was 35.10 ± 3.67 which was 87.74% of the total score with the difference in mean percentage of 17.33 % (Excellent).  The t-value also obtained it was at P<0.001 level, so Ho1 was rejected and is interpreted that the difference observed in the mean knowledge score values of  post test-I, II& III were true difference.
