Abstract

In the era of globalization, entrepreneurial development is a challenge. Rural entrepreneurship is defined as entrepreneurship whose roots lie in rural areas; rural entrepreneurship is similar with rural industrialization. People in rural areas faces various problems like unemployment, poor infrastructure facilities, complicated legal formalities, lack of technical knowledge etc. that may be solved with the development of rural entrepreneurs. Rural entrepreneurship plays a vital role in increasing the standard of living & purchasing power of the people by offering employment opportunities in villages. This paper is an attempt to understand the concept of rural entrepreneurship, its role in economic development, threats and the possible solutions in India.
