Abstract

Abundance of health and fitness can be achieved effectively with the integration of all aspects of our personality including physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual right from the mother’s womb.The Sanskrit word “Garbh” means foetus in the womb and “Sanskar” means imbibing the wisdom, transforming or creating the mind. So, Garbhsanskar essentially means educating the mind of the foetus. It is traditionally believed that a child's mental and behavioural development starts as soon as he is conceived. His personality begins to take shape in the womb, and this can be influenced by the mother's state of mind during pregnancy. This knowledge can be traced back to ancient scriptures Rigveda, Upanishads and is included in the Ayurveda.Yog plays a very important role in garbhasanskar as it is the science which focuses not only on physical and mental aspects but also emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual aspects. It helps imbibe many virtues like strength, talent, devotion, dynamic, powerful,brilliant, religious,victorious, artistic, attractive, social,and sensitive during the development of the foetus.
