Abstract

Unlike, ancient times when foreign languages were just of an interest of religious priests/monks, merchants and very selected leaders or scholars. In this present globalized world, learning a foreign language has become as common as getting undergraduate degree and as fascinating as learning shooting. People from different corners of India, from different walks of society are very enthusiastic about learning Chinese. In my personal experience with Chinese language as a student as well as a teacher, I feel enthralled about the variety and range of people interested in learning Chinese. In last 10 years in addition to the increase in number of Govt. institutes offering Chinese language course, mushrooming of several private institutes offering Chinese language programs for people from different sectors has become the current growing trend in India.
