Abstract

The paper attempts to highlight the predicaments of postmodern art in renouncing the authority of Metanarratives. As a creative module, Mininarratives have evolved to contest the traditional view on truth and totality promoting pluralism and creativity. Drawing near the horizon of reality the mininarratives, Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni’s The Palace of Illusions attempts to showcase the role of Mininarratives in overthrowing the monopoly of grandnarratives by deciphering the ideologies beneath the text. This invalidates the centrality and certainty of the absolute truth offering possible interpretations and widening the range of attitudes. This Paper focuses on the ideological level of interpretation capturing the spirit of the postmodern era by promoting multiplicity and rejecting the monolithic truth.
