Abstract
The paper defines the concept of status and discusses the de facto and de jure status of tribal women in India and particularly in the state of Rajasthan. Ideal status proclaims to reduce class and gender inequalities and involve tribal women in the process of national development. The paper also analyzes the existing development strategies to realize the ideal status so as to suggest improvement in these strategies.
