Abstract

Till 1990’s, fixed deposits were yielding higher rate of interest. People were inclined to place their savings in the fixed deposits. However, over the period of time, the rate of interest in fixed deposits has fallen considerably, due to which the preference of people have changed significantly. Recently the preferred avenues are shares and mutual funds for investments. However, other avenues such as postal schemes and investments in non-banking assess such as property and gold are also considered by the young investors.
