Abstract

Health of a woman has impact on her overall development, personal and professional life. One of the significant disorders having worldwide prevalence and affecting women health is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a hormonal disorder characterized by multiple cysts in the ovary, irregular menstrual cycles and diverse symptoms including obesity, infertility, hirsutism, insulin resistance and depression. Worldwide occurrence of PCOS has been estimated to be ranging between 2.2- 26% and reported to have increased with sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise and inappropriate diet. One of the ways to control the disorder in young women is to increase awareness about PCOS and its complications, so as to bring the necessary changes in the lifestyle, facilitate early detection and treatment.
