Abstract

Female labour force participation is an important driver and integral part of economic growth of any country. There have been many research works and studies on the female labour force participation rate (both urban and rural) in India over the years and explaining which the major factors are affecting it. This paper builds an econometric model using time series data of India from 1990-2018. Female labour force participation seems to be largely driven by the adult female literacy rate. This exercise, also tries to study the relationship between female school enrolment and the female labour force participation rate.
