Abstract

Sedition is a form of political speech, an expression against the authority of the government and State, which is forbidden for exceeding the limit of legitimate criticism, and therefore, not protected by the right to freedom of speech and expression. By raising the issue of the conditions under which speech may be freely exercised, or alternatively legitimately curbed, sedition reveals a problem within democratic countries. This problem unfolds in the tensions between the relative precedence and the relationship between freedom of speech and expression of citizens and obligations of the State.[1]
