Abstract
The database community is exploring more and greater multidisciplinary avenues: Data semantics overlaps with ontology management; reasoning duties assignment into the area of synthetic intelligence; and records circulate management and statistics retrieval shake hands, e.g., when processing Web click-streams. These new research avenues become evident, for example, in the subjects that doctoral college students choose for their dissertations. This two paper surveys the rising multidisciplinary lookup by using doctoral students in database structures and related areas. It is based on the PDPM 2018, which is the third IT workshop at the International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management (CIKM).
