Abstract

Rubber industry is one of the key sectors of the Indian economy. India is the fourth largest producer of natural rubber and the third largest consumer of the polymer. As far as consumption of natural and synthetic rubber together is concerned, the country occupies the fourth position. Natural rubber plays an important role in area as well as production where more than 80.00 per cent of rubber production was contributed by smallholding farmers. The main objectives of the study are as follows: (i) To analysis the trend in area and production Productivity of natural Rubber in India (ii) To study the growth performance of area and production Productivity of natural Rubber in India during  2000-01 to 2017-18. The study is based on secondary data. Secondary data regarding quantity and value of the growth performance of Area, Production and Productivity of natural Rubber were collected from Indian Rubber Statistics, Rubber Board, Kerala, Kottayam.
